As an Arts Educator, I have been involved in theater arts activities for well over thirty years in the United States, Cambodia and Thailand. Highlights of my career include:

  • Head of Drama at Chiang Mai International School from 2009-2017
  • Founder and Artistic Director for Stage Actors Ensemble of Chicago through the 1990's
  • Artistic Director for the Performance Loft Theater, Chicago, 1997-2003
  • Founding member and Artistic Director of The Bryn Mawr Theater in Chicago in 1990.
  • Teaching drama and directing musical theater for the Gary Public Schools Gifted and Talented Program, "Little People's Theater", Gary IN in the mid 80's.
 
I am also the founder of the first English language Theater company in northern Thailand, The Gate Theater Group. Located in Chiang Mai Thailand, The Gate has been in operation since 2007 and has put on over 25 productions since its inception.

These two courses are an introduction to speech communication which emphasizes the practical skill of public
speaking, including techniques to lessen speaker anxiety, and the use of visual aids to enhance speaker
presentations. Its goal is to prepare students for success in typical public speaking situations and to
provide them with the basic principles of organization and research needed for effective
speeches. Learning to have self-confidence, to organize ideas, to prepare and practice, to be aware
of nonverbal messages and to continue to develop intrapersonally are at the foundation of these
course and are only a few of the invaluable skills which can be achieved through the study of Oral
Presentation.

2009-2017 Theater Department Head at Chiang Mai International School (CMIS) Chiang Mai, Thailand. Duties included:

  • Developed, implemented and evaluated programs for the season.
  • With advisory board, developed annual program budget.
  • Acted as spokesperson for the organization's artistic purpose via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and, as requested at fundraising events.
  • Supervised and maintained a written procedures manual for technical and production staff.
  • Reported to the Board of Directors on a  regular basis to give an update on artistic activity.
  • Directed at least one theatrical production per year.
 
1997-2003 Artistic Director at The Performance Loft Theater, Chicago IL. USA. Duties included:

  • Conceived, developed and implemented the artistic vision and focus of the Theater Company
  • Hired, supervised, and evaluated personnel including Directors, Performers, Designers and Stage Managers.
  • Instructed classes in public speaking, stage acting for adults and children, scenic design and stage lighting.
 
(The Performance Loft Theater has been recognized for excellence in theater production by the League of Chicago Theaters, the Joseph Jefferson Awards Committee and The Chicago Tribune & Sun-Times Newspapers.)
 
1988-1990 Program Director of Gary Public Schools Gifted & Talented "Little People’s Theater". Duties included:

  • Produced and Directed the Gifted and Talented Children’s Theater, for children 6 to 16 years olds
  • Taught stage acting, voice & speech and stage movement Conducted parent teacher meetings.
  • Acted as spokesperson for the program's artistic purpose via speaking engagements, public and social appearances.
  • Designed lights, stage settings and directing at least one musical play per year.
